Josef Chromy Wines

Situated just 10 minutes’ drive from the Launceston city centre and airport, the Josef Chromy estate is an essential place to add to your Northern Tasmanian itinerary.

The cellar door is housed within an original 1880s homestead, and you can enjoy picturesque views overlooking their century-old garden and lakeside vineyard as you relax and taste a variety of wines grown and made onsite. A tasting at Josef Chromy is an idyllic experience of fine wine, heritage and architecture, with two curated tastings to choose from.

Let’s Do Lunch (2.5 hours)

A 45-minute wine tasting, followed by a beautiful two-course lunch with matched wines in the Josef Chromy hatted restaurant.

Sights And Delights (3 hours)

Enjoy a glass of bubbles upon arrival, followed by a guided walk of the estate grounds where you will learn about the land, the history of the estate and Tamar Valley and the wine. The tour concludes with a 2-course lunch at the Josef Chromy hatted restaurant with paired wines.

The Art of Sparkling Experience (4 hours)

Be taken on a journey of all things sparkling! Commencing at the cellar door, enjoy a guided walk of the grounds. Take in the history of the vineyards, the century-old garden, and the 1800s homestead, as well as the winemaking heritage and learn about the man himself- Josef Chromy! Immerse yourself in a hands-on sparkling experience as you are taken through the sparkling wine process. Find your own personal taste, through liqueur d’expedition dosage and craft you very own bottle of sparkling! Take home a bottle of your very own blend with the option to order sparkling wine at your own dosage rate to be delivered later. You will then have the opportunity to taste other Josef Chromy wines, before finishing off in the Josef Chromy hatted restaurant over a beautiful two-course lunch with matched wines!
