Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary-is not a zoo- it is a sanctuary for Tasmania’s wildlife, operating the state’s largest a 24/7 wildlife rescue service. Their aim is to get healthy animals back to the wild and this could not be done without their army of volunteers who bring aid to thousands of suffering animals every year.
Located just 30 minutes north of Hobart’s CBD, their ever-changing menagerie of animals includes wombats, devils, quolls, native birds, lizards, snakes and emus. Hear their survival stories, join one of the day tours, a behind the scenes experience or an intimate group night tour with the opportunity to interact with the animals.
All entry fees include a free bag of kangaroo food and access to the daily tours; as well as directly fund the running of the sanctuary and operation of their conservation programs. Bonorong also contributes to breeding programs, research initiatives, and advocacy for the protection of Tasmania’s Wildlife.
All public tours allow visitors to see the Tasmanian Devil and learn about their personalities and well as the threats that they face and the efforts to help them.
