The Ship That Never Was tells the dramatic and hilarious true story of ten convict shipwrights, who stole a ship from Sarah Island in 1834 and escaped to Chile!
Eventually four convicts were recaptured, transported again to Van Diemens Land, and put on trial in Hobart for ‘Piracy and Mutiny’. The convicts are to be hanged… BUT manage to wriggle out of it!
This unique theatrical experience combines history, humor and audience interaction, making it a significant part of Australia’s cultural landscape.
The show has been performed in Strahan over 8600 times, making it the longest running play in Australia.
This fun, interactive, family entertainment is performed every day at 5:30pm from September to May, and occasionally in winter.
